1/Can you introduce yourself?
自己紹介をして頂けないでしょうか。

My name is Hiroshi Nakamura and I am an Architect.
I am the CEO of a company called NAP ARCHITECTS CO., LTD. and my design focuses on boutiques, restaurants, holiday cottages and houses. Overseas, I design commercial architecture in Kuwait and Beijing.

建築家の中村拓志です。
ＮＡＰ建築設計事務所という会社の代表をしています。
ブティックやレストラン、別荘、住宅を中心に、海外ではクウェートや北京の商業施設を
設計しています。

2/Why are you starting this job?
なぜ、この仕事を始めたのですか？

It all started during my childhood where I used to build homes inside my house, at school or on trees.
I was touched by the fact that architecture could excite and comfort people. My decision to become an architect was already made during my elementary school days.

子供のころに、家や学校や木の上に基地を作っていたのがきっかけです。
建築が、人をわくわくさせたり安らぎを与えたりすることに感動し、
小学校の時から建築家になろうと決めていました。

3/Tell us about your most favorite works.
今までで、一番お気に入りのプロジェクトを教えて頂けないでしょうか。

Any project is my favorite, but if I had to decide it would LANVIN Boutique Ginza, my first debut-work.
For this, completely new windows were made by the use of the technology usually applied for the creation of ship engines,I even applied for a concession.

どのプロジェクトもお気に入りですが、
しいて言えば、デビュー作のLANVIN Boutique Ginzaでしょうか。
造船のエンジンで使われる技術を応用した全く新しい窓が3000個あけられていて、
特許も出願しました。

4/What is your most impressive works?
今までで、一番印象的なプロジェクトは何でしょうか？

It is still under construction but it is a housing complex called "Dancing trees,Singing birds" which will be completed in the summer of 2007 in Ebisu.
The rooms are going to be constructed in a way that it won’t affect the trees on site. In order to use the maximum space without cutting down the trees, every single branch was measured by laser and the rooms will be installed into spaces safe from the tree movements caused by typhoons.
It will have the same delightful appearance as a tree house.

まだ完成していませんが、2007年夏に恵比寿で竣工する「Dancing trees, Singing birds」という
集合住宅です。
敷地にあった木々を伐採しないで最大床面積を獲得するために、
木の枝を一本一本レーザーで測量し、台風時の挙動をよけたところに部屋を設けました。
まるでツリーハウスのような楽しい外観が生まれる予定です。

5/What do you want to make architecture in the future?
これからは、どんな建築を作っていきたいですか?

I would like to make architecture which will make us value the environment and nature that surrounds us.
In about 10 years, the global environment is going to be a serious issue.
Of course the problem cannot be solved only by designing a building, but it can make people feel the value of nature and become aware of the feelings and situation of non-humans like animals.

僕らを取り巻く環境や自然を大切にしたくなるような建築を作っていきたい。
今のままではあと数十年で地球環境は大変なことになります。
建築一つでその問題を解決することはできないけれど、その建築に触れた人の多くが、
自然っていいな、とか、人間以外の動物の気持ちや立場のことを想像できるようになれればと
思っています。

6/What music do you like?
好きな音楽は何ですか？

Lounge music.
Instead of listening to one particular music, I rather like to put on some music  which reminds me of the certain spaces where the compilation was created ((HOTEL COSTES, BUDDHA BAR, Cafe del Mar, 10 Corso Como, Colette etc.).
Space, place and music are fused, which could be a new evolution in architecture and music.

ラウンジミュージック。
集中して一つの音楽を聴くというより、そのコンピレーションが生まれた場所や空間（HOTEL COSTES, BUDDHA BAR, Cafe del Mar, 10 Corso Como, Colette等 ）の雰囲気を思い出しながら、音楽をかけています。
空間や場所と音楽がセットになって、建築も音楽も新しい進化を遂げていくように思います。

7/How do you think the flow of digital will evolve?
これからのデジタルの流れについてどうなっていくと思いますか？

It will become more and more free and casual.
It is likely that it will become easier for hits to appear, more labels will occur and new music is born every single day.
I believe for this, a new navigation site viewing the opinions and feelings of the listeners is going to be necessary.

もっと自由にもっと気軽になっていくと思います。
今まで以上に世界的な大ヒットが出やすい状況になるでしょうし、
逆に今まで以上にたくさんのレーベルが出現して、日々たくさんの音楽が生まれるでしょう。
その際には、リスナーの気持ちやノリが即座に視覚化されるような、
新しいミュージックナビゲーションサイトが必要になってくると思います。
