1/Can you introduce yourself?
自己紹介をして頂けないでしょうか。

Hi, My name is YASUAKI KAGII, I am Underwater photographer.
I am taking a picture of various living things such as the fish, the corals, and whales in the sea.
I have gone out to the sea to take a picture of 2/3 of 1 year.
Most destinations are Indonesia, Micronesia, Maldives, and New Caledonia in the foreign country.
I am taking a picture of a sea all over the world to the field.

こんにちは、水中写真家の鍵井靖章です。
私は海のなかで、魚やサンゴ、クジラなど様々な生物の撮影を行っています。
１年のおよそ２／３は撮影のために海に出掛けています。
行き先はほとんど外国で、インドネシア、ミクロネシア、モルディブ、ニューカレドニアなど世界中の海をフィールドに撮影しています。

2/Why are you starting this job?
なぜ、この仕事を始めたのですか？

It did because it had gone to underwater photographer Katsutoshi Ito's photograph exhibition the university while attending school.
It introduced Mr. Ito in the acquaintance through the friend for the friend who did together by chance with Mr. Ito, and it went apprentice.
the sea that had dived for the first time for the license acquisition was Kushimoto in the Kii peninsula.
The another world in the sea.
I still remember the euphoria at that time.
Afterwards, it is enchanted and it has been arriving now.
In the first half in my twenties, it worked hard at by the side and the underwater photography that worked as a diving guide at Australia, Izu, and Maldives, because it is not possible to live in a photograph alone.
And, it succeeded in taking a picture of the copulation of Minami-Semicgera in Australia in 1997.
I got "Anima prize" of the Heibonsha sponsoring to the animal photographer that
had been called a gateway to success (the 15th).
At that occasion, it returned home, and it became independent as a free-lance photographer in 1998.

大学在学中に水中写真家・伊藤勝敏氏の写真展に行ったのがきっかけでした。
一緒に行った友人がたまたま伊藤先生と知り合いで、その友人を介して伊藤先生を紹介して頂き、押しかけ弟子になりました。
ライセンス取得のために初めて潜った海は紀伊半島の串本でした。
海のなかは本当に別世界でした。
その時の高揚感は今でも覚えています。
その後、すっかり海中世界に魅了され現在に至っています。
20代前半の頃、写真だけでは食べていけないため、オーストラリア、伊豆、モルディブでダイビングガイドとして働く傍ら、水中撮影に励んでいました。
そして、1997年にオーストラリアでミナミセミクジラの交尾の撮影に成功し、動物写真家への登竜門と言われていた平凡社主催の「アニマ賞」（第15回目）を頂き、それを機に帰国、1998年にフリーランスフォトグラファーとして独立しました。

3/A work most recently remained in memories?
最近、一番印象深い仕事は何ですか?

It is variously.
Every time, coverage is continuous of the happening and the excitement, drift and the boat ran aground and it was lifted up to the U.S. military in the brim and more.(laugh)
Even the TBS of last year "JOUNETSU TAIRIKU" especially introduced, and was pungent Hoojiro-Zame of which it took a picture in South Africa.
First of all, it takes a picture of the scene that attacks the fur seal while jumping, and it enters the cage and it takes a picture of them in water.
There were feelings of certainly scary, too.
Hoojiro-Zame surely stared at me of the average of the cage with food….
At that time, I think building in the average of the feeding chain of nature surely.
It is a providence of the natural world whether eat or eaten.
I think that such an experience was a valuable experience for me who keeps taking a picture naturally.

色々あります。
漂流したとか、ボートが座礁して米軍にヘリで吊り上げられたりとか、取材は毎回、ハプニングと興奮の連続です（笑）。
そのなかでも特に昨年、TBS「情熱大陸」でも紹介して頂いたのですが、南アフリカで撮影したホオジロザメは刺激的でした。
まず、ジャンプしながらオットセイを襲うシーンを撮影して、それから檻に入って彼らを水中で撮影する。
確かに怖いという気持ちもありました。
ホオジロザメは間違いなく、檻のなかの私を餌と見据えて認識していましたし･･･。
しかし、その時、私は確実に自然の食物連鎖のなかに組み込まれていたと思います。
食うか食われるか自然界の摂理。
そのような経験は、自然の中で撮影を続けていく私にとって貴重な体験だったように思われます。

4/Please tell me your favorite production.
あなたのお気に入りの作品について教えてくれませんか。

After all, I think that I take a picture of fish' portraits.
It keeps taking a picture imagining everything like their functional beauty, sense of existence, and design, etc. feeling it because it confirms it.
I want to take a picture by them as long as they permit.
It melts to water, it wants to open consideration, and to take a picture of their real faces closely if possible.

突き詰めていくと結局、私は魚たちのポートレートを撮影しているのだと思います。
彼らの持つ機能美、存在感、意匠など全てを確認して、感じて、想像して撮影を続けています。
そして、私は彼らが許してくれる限り、彼らのそばで撮影したい。
できることなら、水に溶け、意識を開放し、彼らの素顔を間近で撮影したい。

5/Tell me about your new project plane?
あなたの新しいプロジェクトの計画を教えて下さい。

The project that makes a real first photograph collection in Europe progresses now.
Though it only has to go well as it is. (laugh)

現在、ヨーロッパで初の本格的な写真集を作るプロジェクトが進行しています。
このまま、うまく行ってくれれば良いのですが･･･（笑）

6/What do you think of the flow of digital?
デジタルの流れについて、どう思いますか？

The underwater photography machine parts all changed me to the digital camera in August, 2006.
Underwater photography has the restriction.
First of all, there is air in the tank the taking a picture time. (For about 1 hour. )
The exchange of lenses is impossible.
It will be possible to take a picture only of 36 pieces in 1 hour because the films were not able to be exchanged in case of the silver bromide camera.
However, in using the digital camera, the limitation of taking a picture cutting was lost.
This is very glad.
A conception that was freer in water became more possible by that..

私は2006年8月から水中撮影機材は全て、デジタルカメラに変更しました。
水中撮影はほんとに制約があります。
まず、撮影時間は、タンクに空気が入っている限りです（約１時間）。
レンズの交換は無理。
銀塩カメラの場合だと、フィルム交換ができないため、1時間のうちに36枚しか撮影できませんでした。
しかし、デジタルカメラを使用することによって、まず、撮影カットの制限がなくなりました。
これは大変嬉しい事実です。
そのことによって水中でより自由な発想がより可能になりました。

7/What is favorite music?
好きな音楽は何ですか？

I hear the genre regardless Carole King and Sound track of movie "Betty Blue" and mountsugar etc.

キャロル・キング、映画「ベティブルー」のサントラ、mountsugarなどジャンルは関係なく聞きます。

8/What is your dream?
夢は、何ですか？

I have a lot of dreams.
I will think that it is useful for the defense of nature by my photograph in the future.
The appearance in the sea changed at the short period though I had been only a lot of years since diving was started.
There are a lot of places where the same scenery of which it took a picture
before doesn't exist any longer.
The cause is extinction of the coral by Global warming etc.
I should tell everybody such a situation as a document.
Because it is a person who keeps taking a picture beside the sea that is all saucers.
Next I want to enjoy one and Collaboration of the different kind of artist.
It is glad if there is a chance that something interesting in music, the fashion, the world of the flower, and my photograph can be created.

夢はたくさんあります。
まず将来、私の写真が自然を守ることに役立ってくれれば、本懐だと思います。
私はダイビングを始めてからほんの十数年ですが、その短い期間で海の中の様子は変わりました。
以前撮影した同じ風景がもう存在しない場所も少なくありません。
温暖化によるサンゴの死滅などが原因です。
私はそのような状況もドキュメントとしてみなさんに伝えなくてはならない。
全ての受け皿となっている海の傍で撮影を続けていく者として。
また、それとは別の動きとして、異種のアーティストの方とコラボレーションも楽しみたいです。
音楽、ファッション、お花の世界と私の写真で、なにか面白いことを創造できる機会があれば嬉しいです。
