1/First I hope to introduce myself.
まずは自己紹介を。

HELLO this is HIROSHI WATANABE.
Basically I have couple of project name for my music produce. one the most known name is "KAITO" for KOMPAKT in Germany. this project has a some special mixing of my music experience together. let's say, some trance flavor, ambient, new age music, cinematic sound, and of cause HOUSE MUSIC and basic TECHNO MUSIC. I mixed those flavor by my own filter. also the name originally came from my first son's name "KAITO". If you know this project already, you can see my son on the cover artwork every time I released. (which I took that photographs myself)

there are another project called "TREAD", "32 PROJECT", "NITE SYSTEM", "QUADRA". of cause each project has a different sound color and variations.
let's say TRAED is more moody adult slow tempo's house music. I kept tempo up to 115 bpm. this is some kind of a rule for TREAD project. but still sound will be a nice dance track and some of are nice listening tracks. sound more jazzy.

and 32 Project is one of my free project for IBADAN records NYC. I've released 2 singles already. this project sound will be more danceable, some of tracks are really Deep House style, but some of tracks is more my own tech-house style way. I never explain 32 PROJECT meanings, it is really simple mean, I just had start this project with my age as 32 years. and about the NITE SYSTEM, this project was running during I was string NYC since 1994 ~ 1999. most of NITE SYSTEM tracks was sound more HARD HOUSE style. simply because I was living NYC. I was trying to find a strong point and magic of a DEEP and HARD New York Style of HOUSE music at that moment. NITE SYSTEM has been released from many NY labels, such as NITE GROOVES, BPM KINGSTREET SOUND, VICIOUS MUSIC, DEEPER REKORDS, PROGRESSIVE HIGH and etc.

so I was based on NYC till 1999 summer, after that I came back to TOKYO. and same period, my most of NITE SYSTEM project has stopped. and bout the QUADRA, this project is my first basic one. sound is more similar as a KAITO but not a same, there is deferent between 2 project, QUADRA will be more straight melancholic TECHNO HOUSE. I think QUADRA has no trance flavor as a KAITO project. When I do some tracks name as HIROSHI WATANABE, which is my free project. I do anything what I want to do.

also I need to say same time I do photographs as a professional. I really love to do my photo project more in the future. couple of time I did my photo exhibition at the gallery in Tokyo, also I've releasing photo DVD project called "TINY BALANCE". which is contain my photo show case with my original music and also words. This time I have many unreleased track selection for ANTENNA SOUNDS.
those tracks are little bit sound deferent now I'm doing but I'm so grad to have those collection now.

数々のプロジェクト名を使い分け様々な音楽を作っているんだ。
最も良く知られている名前は、ドイツのレーベルKOMPAKTで"KAITO"というんだけど、このプロジェクトは、音楽での経験を１つにまとめたものであって、tranceフレーバー, ambientやnew age musicや cinematic soundそして HOUSE MUSIC やbasic TECHNO MUSICを織り込んだものなんだ。
僕のフィルターを通して気に入っているものをmixしたもの。
"KAITO"は僕の息子の名前からとったんだ。
もしこのプロジェクトの事を知っているなら、CDのcoverで僕の息子を見る事ができるよ。もちろん僕が撮った写真。

他にも、"TREAD"、"32 PROJECT"、"NITE SYSTEM"や "QUADRA".という名前でやっていて、もちろんそれぞれのプロジェクトは様々なバリエーションやカラーを持っていて、例えば、"TREAD"はムーディーでスローテンポのHOUSE MUSICで、bpmは最高でも115と決めていて、これはTRAEDのプロジェクトのルール。だけどTRAEDから出る音はかっこよくて、テンポを上げたら踊れる曲にもなるし、dance track だけじゃなくlistening tracksにもなる。もっとjazzっぽいものも。

"32 PROJECT"はニューヨークのIBADAN recordsでフリーなプロジェクトの１つなんだ。これは中でも一番踊れる感じで、いくつかはDeep House styleなんだ。tech-house styleもあるしね。"32 PROJECT"の意味を説明したことはないけど、単純に３２歳から始めたから。"NITE SYSTEM"は1994年 から1999年にニューヨークに滞在していた時にやっていたプロジェクトでHARD_HOUSE style。その時HOUSE styleでもハードな力強さとマジックを見つけようとしたんだ。"NITE SYSTEM"はたくさんのレコード会社からリリースされNITE GROOVES、BPM KINGSTREET SOUND、VICIOUS MUSIC、DEEPER REKORDS、PROGRESSIVE HIGや他にもいろいろだよ。

1999年の夏まで、NYを拠点においていて"NITE SYSTEM"は東京に帰ってきた時にやめてしまったんだ。"QUADRA"は"KAITO"のようなtranceのフレーバーはもっていないけれど似ているところもあるな。そして、HIROSHI WATANABEでもtrackを作っている事もあって、自由にやらせてもらっいてるよ。僕はやりたいことならなんでもやるからね。

あとは、将来的はプロとして写真もやりたい。写真に対してももっと力を入れたい。前に東京で写真展も開いた事があって、"TINY BALANCE".というプロジェクトでphoto DVDもリリースしてるよ。これにはphoto showの他にもオリジナルの音楽や言葉がいっぱい詰まってるんだ。ANTENNASOUNDSからリリースしてなかったのも入ってるよ。
それらは今やってるもとはちょっと違うんだよね。今回はそれを集め出せてとっても嬉しいよ。

2/Project most recently remained in memories?
最近一番記憶に残っているプロジェクトは？

Let's say KAITO is one of my best project now.
But the other hands, I really want to say all my project will be best.
Because every moment I did 100% energy putting in to my project.

KAITO、今僕の力を入れているプロジェクトのうちの1つだね。
でも、プロジェクトすべてが最良だろうと本当に言っておきたいな。
なぜなら、すべての瞬間に僕のプロジェクトに100%のエネルギーをそそいでいるから。

3/A gig most recently remained in memories?
最近一番記憶に残っているギグは？

This is also really hard to say just one of best..... But I really had fun with all audience when I played DJ at SONER MUSIC FESTIVAL in 2002.
But to be honest, I would say all place I played, I had so much fan and wonderful audience.

たくさんある中で、まさに1つを言うのは実際に難しいけれど、2002年にSONER MUSIC FESTIVALでDJをした時、すべての観客と本当に楽しんだんだ。
でも本当にどんな場所でもプレーはとても楽しいし、すばらしいオーディエンスだったよ。

自分自身が作ったものだから、どれが一番いいか選べないな。

5/How was this remix or original achieved?
そのリミックス／オリジナルはどうやって制作した？

6/What do you think of the flow and the music download of digital in the future?
音楽のデジタル配信の流れと将来をどう思う？

I would say any of future things are depending how you use of that. to me digital download things are very comfortable and useful material for my DJ sets. I'm using TRAKTOR with my laptop now so of cause recent download system is very useful to me. just only one thing I would say, some times I really felt feel strange and sad be cause listener can choose and pick up anything If that track even from albums. usually producer has strong concept and track numbering each of them on purpose. but people can have just only tracks which they choose with but quality pre listen(preview) system. this is not same as when you find some tracks at record shop. If most of download site selected and finding much more nice point with nice quality of preview sound system, I feel more better and comfortable.

僕は将来どのようなものを使っていくかみなさん次第だと思うんだ。
パソコンからのダウンロードのもの使うとDJをセットする時にとても使いやすく快適だよ。僕も実際にTRAKTORを使っていてとてもいいよ。
ちょっと気になる所といったら、最近のダウンロードシステムは時々、複数のアルバムから選ばれたtrackを聴くのは奇妙で寂しい感じがするところかな。そのtrackはたいていプロデューサーが何らかの目的をもって順番を決めているからね。
人々は悪い音質を試し聴きて選んでしまっているからね。
レコード屋で曲を見つけて買うのと訳が違うんだ。
だから、もしも、音質がいいダウンロードサイトを見つけられたらもっと快適になるんだろうと思うよ。
